Natural Beauty & International Hiking Trails

Peja is renowned for its stunning natural landscapes, activities in nature and adventures, especially the Rugova Gorge. The Rugova Valley is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering opportunities for hiking, via ferrata climbing, skiing (in winter), mountain biking, caving and enjoying the scenic beauty of the mountains, canyons, and waterfalls. Starting point for well known and very popular Peaks of the Balkans hiking trail, Via Dinarica international trail, Trans Dinarica bike trail, etc.

The city has a rich cultural heritage dating back centuries. Its history includes influences from various civilizations, including Illyrians, Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans, and more. This diversity is reflected in the city’s architecture, traditions, and cultural practices.

 Peja is home to religious sites representing different faiths, including 20 mosques, Catholic church, and the Orthodox Patriarchate of Peja, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a significant religious complex housing several medieval Orthodox monasteries. You can visit the oldest building in town-Old Hammam from 1478.

Long Bazaar and Old Town

Peja features a charming old town area with a traditional bazaar where visitors can explore narrow streets lined with shops, cafes, and local artisans selling handmade crafts and products. Dairy market is a must visit.
