Cultural & Historical Prishtina Highlights

One of Prishtina’s iconic landmarks is the “Newborn” monument, which symbolizes the city’s declaration of independence from Serbia in 2008. Each year, the monument is repainted with a new design to commemorate significant events.

Located just opposite Newborn, dedicated to all women who where persecuted and raped from Serbian forces during 1999 conflict.

The heart of the city is the Mother Teresa Square, named after the renowned humanitarian who was of Albanian descent. It serves as a central meeting point and features cafes, restaurants, shops, and cultural events.

Prishtina is home to various religious sites, Mother Theresa Cathedral located in the city center, Bajrakli mosque, Graqanica monastery, and synagogue, showcasing the coexistence of different religious communities.

National Library with it’s iconic and futuristic building  is a must visit when you’re in Prishtina. The city is known for its vibrant student population due to the presence of the State University of Prishtina, the largest and oldest university in Kosova. The university contributes to the city’s lively atmosphere and cultural scene.
